This piece was an exploration into the strength and jointing possibility of round section timbers.
With my every readiness to search for movement in a piece and to try and shy away from my tendency to make things over strong to the cost of form.
This is a true reflection of my wanting to make simple pieces but with a step away from the conventional ways of doing things. Why have a structural brace if it is not really needed?
Queensland maple with it’s neutral tones worked well on this piece, the fact that the form is open gives a nice all-round look to the piece and has a nice flex in the piece, not enough to make it look like a hall of mirrors , but just enough to make it come alive..
