Quiver
Quiver by Scott Pilkington

This table is a playful piece exploring the different strengths and weakness between traditional frame construction and the more contemporary style.

This piece is of solid silky oak, the beautiful split book matched top had such a curvaceous edge it had to remain. The legs turned and mortised into two angled rails, these rails are shaped front and rear to try and give the table lift and a more elegant look. There is a central spine running between these two rails to give the structure strength, which all sits on turned jarrah spacers to give it that floating effect, the exposed jarrah wedged mortise and tennon breaks the long slender legs at the top .

I was hoping to get some movement in this piece, after all I would expect that no more than a few kilos of load will be put on it, well I am very pleased that the name Quiver came immediately after the first nudge of one of the top corners. It does a beautiful little Quiver before settling back down to bounce any light into a million directions. A tall cabinet is already in the making although movement maybe more of an issue on this piece, maybe a cocktail cabinet, shaken and stirred.
