Coffee Table

I constructed this coffee table to find the physical limits of its materials. The main construction feature is the tension, as the middle of the coffee table is not touching the ground.

The glass top is a donut shape just wide enough to hold a mug of coffee or similar sized item. The second level of glass works as a shelf .The size of the shelf is designed so it can just hold a bottle of wine between the two bent legs.

The table is made out of hand steam-bent Australian Sheoak (Allocasuarina fraseriana) and circular sheets of clear glass. The major structure of this coffee table was made in cooperation with fellow designer Adyn Kelly. See Adyn's version here
